There are enormous amounts of people cycling the streets with chains that are worn out. If the chain is worn out it will move badly and wear our the sprockets more swiftly.

Our recommendation is the Park Tool CC-3 which is designed to indicate when a chain reaches 0.75% and 1% wear – which is when most chain manufacturers suggest replacement. If the chain fits 1% then the chain is worn out and needs replacing. This tool fits all chains of ½-inch pitch, including 10-speed chains.
