Cycling Highways

In the bike frenzy set to take place over the next few years, ol’ bikin Boris is also bringing in new Cycle Superhighways.

These are routes that will allow for speedy and safe rides from the outer boroughs through to central London.

The plan is to have 12 routes completed by the end of 2012, beginning next year.

Take a look at the proposed plan here...

The first two they are planning on creating are Barking - Tower Gateway, and South Wimbledon to Bank.
They are also going to put indicators of your journey time and information so you can link from the superhighway through to other cycling routes with ease.

The aim of the superhighways is to improve cycling conditions and encourage people into the saddle away from trains, tubes and cars.
